Today a small piece of my world was shattered, now I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but this is big to me. A few years ago in Cape Town I had met a friend who’d shared some of the most incredible music with me, that in the likes of God is an Astronaut and Maybeshewill. I immediately feel in love with the music, it was so moving, powerful, and positive. Still to this day I can’t accurately capture the childlike wander it evokes within me. It quickly became a goal of mine to see them live one day if I ever had the opportunity.
This evening I realised that I had never seen one of their concerts so decided to put one on while I worked. I found a gem, a one and a half hour concert in incredible quality, these 5 guys on stage just rocking out with no words, painting poetry on silence, making time stand still.
Although lost in the beauty any day, I’m more so on this day, as this exact video I’m watching happens to be what was their last performance. So I guess I missed my shot to ever see them live. At least we still have their music though. Which in my mind will never die.
I’ll probably end up putting this on my projector at some stage and playing it loud enough for the neighbours to appreciate it too. I hope you find this, and enjoy.
If you enjoy their music, check out one of my personal favorites, “He Films the Clouds Pt. 2“
